Why do I dream so much and so vividly??  You'd think after doing it for years that I'd be used to it, but I'm so tired of dreaming!  That must sound so stupid, but I dream each and every night, and my nights are full of vivid, often weird and off-the-wall dreams, and they're always in full colour.  Some dreams can stay with me for weeks, months and even years.  They're like memories, only they're dreams that stay with me whether I want them to or not!  How is it that some people never remember their dreams, or say they never dream?  Apparently not everyone dreams in full colour, but I know that if I had a dream in black and white, I'd find it very strange!  I tried keeping a dream journal once, but my dreams are so convoluted and full of the minutest detail that it was taking me far too long each day to jot it all down!

Just rambling really!  Roll Eyes  My dreams are starting to get to me so I'll post with some examples and ask for interpretations later.   Grin

We pick up information all day....everyday. When we sleep, we 'sift through' all that information.
When there's something important we need to pay attention to, our subconscious plays it out in a dream....in a 'language' that your mind can relate to, but would make no sense to someone else. A dog, for example, would generally represent loyalty, companionship, and unconditional love. But if you had an intense fear, or dislike, of dogs, it may appear as a monster in a dream.
Likewise, to see your husband or boyfriend as a dog, it would suggest that you think he is loyal....or using today's slang, you could be thinking he's cheating on you.
But when you say, "my dreams are so convoluted and full of the minutest detail...", it suggests to me that you are a perfectionist and very 'detail oriented'. Also you are focused, aware, and very 'in tune' with what's going on around you everyday.
There's nothing wrong with being a perfectionist, unless you take it to an extreme level. But, sometimes you have to let the 'little things', or 'small stuff' slide.
I'm a perfectionist, and I pay attention to the smallest of details. And, like you, I used to have super involved dreams, full of so many details, that I had a hard time sleeping. Then one day, I decided 'not to sweat the small stuff'....and it helped. It took some time getting used to it, but now I only 'worry' about the things I can do something about. I still pay attention to small details, and I'm still a perfectionist....but only where it counts. And I don't let 'stuff' get to me. For example, if I feel I have been wronged, or feel I'm 'under attack', I say so. I don't 'go off' on that person, but I let them know that I won't take it either....in as nice a way as possible. I try to express my frustration, hurt feelings, happiness etc. That way it doesn't build up, and I don't get too many wacky dreams.

Thanks for that JayRae!  I hadn't really thought about it before, but I guess I am a perfectionist in some ways, yet not in others, so maybe that does have some relevance.  Several years ago I did make a conscious decision not to worry about things I can't control, and my outlook on life did change ............ but my dream habits didn't!  Oh well, I wonder what's in store tonight?

Tell yourself over and over you don't want to dream about bunnies and rainbows. Seriously! I know it sounds crazy, but when you dwell on something during the day, chances are you'll dream about it at night.
So, dwell on bunnies and rainbows....tell yourself over and over that you don't want to dream about them.
