It's late at night here, I'll be honest, I haven't looked anything up in the dictionary but I figured I'd post anyway.

I think this dream is as simple as it appears.  Three and a half years together is enough to create breakup dreams and tamper with your emotions day & night.  You're heart and subconsciousness are trying to sort your feelings for your ex.  Your hand is closed, that would tell me you are not as open to "another go" as your heart leads you to believe.  I could be wrong, perhaps you are still angry with yourself for the way you handled your relationship back in the days you were still together.  However, I think you need to go with your head on this one, you will be OK if you take a step back and see how things have changed for you both since March.  Start looking forward and away from your past, hard as it may be to start, think of what is probably around the corner.
