I walked into my house and saw that my step daughter's left hand was black and blue and that her arm and hand were very swollen.

When I asked what happened she replied "I slipped and fell on horseradish sauce."

House - A house usually always represents you, or rather 'the self'...your body and the attributes of your personality.
They symbolize your emotional and psychological 'self'. All of your experiences, stages of development, and parts of your conscious and subconscious life may be represented by that house. The house may be representing issues concerning a particular dilemma in your life, or it may be more general and comprehensive.

Daughter - represents your relationship with the daughter. The daughter can also represent the emotional side of marriage, or 'union', of the parents. The child is what has arisen from the bonding, however momentary, of two people. In dreams, the child is sometimes used to depict how the relationship of parents is faring. (IE: a sick daughter might show the feelings in the relationship being 'ill'. A rebellious child may suggest the parent feels their relationship is conflicted...a kidnapped child may suggest that there is something missing or 'gone' from the marriage, or relationship, an injured daughter may symbolize an 'injured' marriage...etc).

Hands - represent your relationship to those around you and how you connect with the world. Hands serve as a form of communication. Perhaps you need to lend out a helping hand to someone.

Left hand symbolizes your graciousness and feminine, receptive qualities.

Injured hand(s) - suggests you feel someone has made an attack on your ego.

Bruised (Black & Blue) - represents stress and mounting pressure that you are dealing with in your waking life. It may also refer to a reawakening of old, family wounds. Alternatively, you need to accept the consequences of your actions. Consider the symbolism of the specific part of your body that is bruised.

Arm(s) - an extension of yourself, a means of expression and protection. To see your arms as the emphasis in your dream, indicates your nurturing side, and your ability to reach out and care for people. Alternatively, it may represent the struggles and challenges in your life. Consider the phrase "arm yourself" which implies that you need to protect yourself, be more aggressive and take a firmer stance on things.

Left arm - signifies your supportive or nurturing nature and is associated with feminine qualities.

Injured arm(s) - signifies you are feeling an inability to care for yourself or your helplessness in reaching out to others. You may have been feeling limited and restricted in terms of your freedom or activities.

Slipped - to slip on something signifies that you are forcing yourself to do things that you do not really want to do. Also, it suggests you are on 'slippery ground' or that you need to 'watch your step' before you say or do something as you might regret it later.

Horseradish - suggests that you have made an overly strong, or sharp, statement, that you may have offended others without realizing it.

Have you had an argument with, or about, your stepdaughter recently?
Did you say something you now regret?
Do you feel as though someone has made a verbal attack on you?
Did someone say something that hurt your feelings, and you lashed out verbally?
Is there some situation, or emotion you refuse to accept, or acknowledge?
Is there something you want to say, but don't quite know how to go about it without hurting feelings?
Has someone taken advantage of you, or your position within a situation?

Hope this gives you some insight, Best Wishes!
