I had this dream and keep having flash backs since, it felt to real, my body feels like it really happened, If someone can help me understand it I would appreciate it alot.

I am walking down a dark road its damp like after light rain. I dont recognise the area not somewhere I have been before. I hear crying and screaming ahead of me.
I pass a turning or corner of the road and there is 4 large figures surrounding a woman on the floor. I shout out and run to help her I notice that she is naked and the 4 men are without faces.
As i get closer I see that the woman is my wife and she has been raped and is still being attacked. I grab the first one I get to and punch him to the ground  as I grab the next one I get knock to the ground.
I get up and start fighting the 3 who knocked me down I can see that there is still 4 surrounding my wife.
From the shadows more attackers grab me from behind. The more I fight the more appear all faceless.
The rapists are taunting me, telling me 'this is how she likes it' and 'you dont no know how to satisfiy her' shes crying out my name telling them to stop but I cant get near enough to help her.  I am fighting so many I am surrounded and cant free myself to get to her. I am fighting with all my heart but cant over power them.

My wife woke me up because she thought I was having a seazure or something, and in the split second before realisation hit I almost punched her. What scares me more is the fact that I could have hurt her whilst sleeping or as I woke up it was pure chance I was able to realise where I was quickly enough. I had to check her for signs of the attack cause it felt so realistic.

Oh my god you poor thing, what am really disturbing dream that must have been for you.

Sometimes i think we have dreams like that , because that is our worst fears and that is the last thing in the world that we would want to happen to our loved one's. I know dreams that i have had similar to your own, have taking me a few days to get it out of my head or to stop dwelling on it.

I am sure that Raejay helped you understand your dream, but i also find talking to friends about my dreams help's get it off my chest.

peace.

Road - symbolizes the road in life....the journey that you take to achieve your goals....your sense of direction and pursuit of those goals.
A dark road reflects the darker or more frightening choices which you have made or are making.
An unknown road means that a new project will cause more grief than it is worth, and you feel it may be a waste of time.

Hear crying/screaming - represents the human need to help others. Screaming in dreams is often the subconscious trying to release pent up anxiety and fear.

Faceless men - featureless faces suggest that you may feel unnoticed and unappreciated. May also mean that you are still searching for your own identity and finding out who you are.
On the other hand, some believe that the blank or unclear face represents a teacher, or authority figure. That there is someone who is there to show and teach you a lesson, but you are unprepared for it and the face is blank.

Four - represents immense inner strength, energy, vitality and a great love for and connection with nature. Four analyses and organizes, the four is where the change in the human personality takes place. There are four functions of consciousness; thinking, feeling, intuitiveness and sensation. The goal is to incorporate all into your waking life.

Rape - rape is a brutal and deeply personal violation, it suggests that you may be feeling robbed of options and negated as a human being. In a dream, as in real life, rape have very little to do with sex. It is about power, control, anger, and other very destructive emotions.
Observing a rape is often equally troubling. This is because of the powerlessness you feel in relationship to the victim. Often there is an intuitive connection with the victim. You may be feeling angry or exploited in waking life. The watching is an attempt to dissociate oneself from the trauma of the event. This can allow better recognition of the relationship between aggressor and victim.

Rescue - you likely see yourself as the head of the family. That you are unable to save your wife suggests you feel you are failing at something within your role as leader.

Fighting the unknown men - In dreams, facets of personality that never get displayed in waking life can become quite animated. Nowhere is this more apparent than with violent behavior. The violence may be justified or random, but it is often extremely graphic. It is so graphic, in fact, that you should understand that this is normal-albeit disturbing-and that its presence is almost always an exaggeration of another point. Violence can be an off-shoot of heroic behavior, especially in rescuing dreams.

More faceless men appear when you fight - suggests you feel you are fighting a losing battle...that there is some issue that you feel is overwhelming you.

Taunting you - represents the humiliation you feel at not being able to 'be a man' and provide for your loved ones in the way you feel you should.

Cannot overpower them to help wife - suggests you feel totally helpless in a situation.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Is there an issue of some kind that you cannot control, but you feel you should?
Have you lost a job recently, or feel that you failed miserably at something?
Are your efforts at work going un-noticed, or do you feel you are being taken advantage of?
Do you feel helpless in a current situation, or that you have nowhere to turn?...Or are afraid to ask for help with something?
Are you angry at someone, or yourself, for something?
Has something happened to make you feel like you are incapable of providing for your family?
This is an extreme anxiety dream.
Yeah, sure ...we all joke about the roles and their differences between males and females. About which is the 'better' sex. But each has their own trouble, stress, and drawback. The pressure that men must feel in the role of leader, guardian and provider is immense. As long as you are doing your best, no one can, or should, ask more of you. Talk to your wife, and let her know how you're feeling. From the way you talk about her, it's obvious that you love her deeply. Communication is key.
Hugs, Hope & Happiness to you and your wife,
J
