Empress - Mothering, Fertility, Sexuality, Abundance, Material prosperity, Pleasure, Comfort, Power, Nature, Delight, Desire, Physical attraction, Health, Sensuality, Beauty, Satisfaction. The Empress is a creator, be it creation of life, of romance, of art or business. The Empress is mother, a creator and nurturer. In many decks she can be shown as pregnant. She can represent the creation of life, of romance, of art or business. The Empress can represent the beginnings of an idea before it is ready to be fully born. The Empress is symbolized by Venus, goddess of beautiful things as well as love. Even so, the Empress is usually interpreted to be Demeter, goddess of abundance. She is the giver of Earthly gifts. At the same time, she can be overprotective and possessive. In anger she can withhold, as Demeter did when her daughter, Persephone, was kidnapped. According to mythology, due to fury and grief, Demeter keeps the Earth cold and barren until Spring when her child is returned to her.
The little girl you see could represent the child within; a wanting to be more carefree. The little boy, also, another side if you. One that wishes to be a little more adventurous, or daring.
It's hard trying to inerpret what one tarot card could represent without the others being known....but a basic idea of the Empress, along with the children in your dream could be:
If you have children, The Empress could be you, and the children represent a side of you that desire a break from the stress that is associated with responsibility.
If you don't have kids, but want them, the Empress could be an expression of your desire to be a mother, and the children reppresent that wish fulfillment.
The Empress card could also be representative of a female authority figure in your life.... one that you feel is strong-willed and 'powerful'. Possibly making you feel like a child, or making you wish you were a child.
Also, the Empress could be a representation of you starting a new venture of sorts. One that, although very rewarding, may carry a lot of responsibility.
I hope this gives you something to go on. Brightest of Blessings!
