As a child I had several dreams twice and I always wondered what they meant, but now as an adult it is perplexing me even more as I have had the same dream twice in the last three weeks.

I have recently started dating my high school sweetheart who still lives in my hometown and I feel that this bit of information will be helpful in interpreting my dream. The first time I had the dream I was back in the town I grew up in standing outside a church that was in my aunt's neighborhood no one knew existed. We were talking about it being the perfect place to have a wedding and the next part of the dream that I remember is me standing outside the church in a wedding dress with my father getting ready to walk me down the aisle. The weird part about these dreams is that I am looking at myself take part in these events, I am feeling my emotions and seeing everything but I am watching myself the entire time.

The second time I had the dream (just two nights ago) I was arriving at the same church and there was a huge crowd of family and friends outside waiting to get in. I was in a wedding dress and I put a sheet or towel over my dress so no one would see it. As I get into the church I learn that it isn't my wedding but my engagement party and I am so confused as to what is going on and my aunt is yelling at me for wearing my wedding dress to my engagement party. I spent the whole time frantically running around looking for my boyfriend and every time I saw him I couldn't get to him. I finally decide to give up and go to the sanctuary where everyone has gathered. One of my uncles is up at the podium talking about Hunter and I as a couple. I find the only place to sit and it is next to Hunter coincidentally. I grab his shoulder as I sit down to make sure it is him and he turns around and he looks spectacular. I hug him and tell him how glad I am to finally see him and talk to him. As the dream progresses, I am continuing to hide my dress from people and my mom has an emergency and has to leave.

This is really all that I remember. From reading the meanings in regards to dreaming about weddings, churches, wedding gowns, and engagements. I can't really formulate a full meaning to this, nonetheless, what it means to basically dream the same dream twice. I believe the first dream was the sequel but I saw it first. If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate any insight.

The church is a place of security, safety, and peace. It could represent a need for greater spirituality in the dreamer's life. It may express religious beliefs, everyday occurrences, issues of safety, security and strength through community, religious, or self expression.
It could also be a symbol of your own 'higher self'.. representing a sign of your growing maturity and inner faith....not just of a 'higher power' but also the faith in the inner self.
That you thought it was your wedding suggests that you do want a life that includes a husband and a family of your own.
Because it turned out to only be an engagement party suggests that your subconscious is telling you not to put the cart before the horse. To takes things slowly, on day at a time.
Trying to hide your gown suggests you are wanting to keep your 'dream' a secret. That you don't want to let on how much you would like to get married.

Hope this helps, best wishes!

Thank you! This helps me tremendously. A lot of your explanation is very relevant to what is going on in my life and how I feel. Once again thank you for your time and help.
