Oddly enough, another member named Sparkling is having a similar dream about a monk. Here's what I told them...
As a form of human behavior, the monk has a very long history, and is seen in all cultures as a solitary individual, a wise one, or a 'free thinker'. In dreams, the monk links us to experiences that come from beyond personal life and memories, and from experiencess gained from living outside the 'social norm'. It comes out of a sense of connection with something that unites all separate people, creatures, and objects in the universe. The monk can also symbolize turning away from everyday life, creating a discipline of the mind and emotions, a rejection of, or anxiety about, the sexual roles of male and female. At a personal level, the monk may connect with feelings of pain, or failure in our experience of the sexual relationship or society. Through such pains, we may have withdrawn enthusiasm, or involvement in what life offers. Positively, it represents an internal question you may be asking...."What, or who am I?"..."Am I anything other than this changing body, with constantly shifting emotions and thoughts?"
That monk is another side of you...a subconscious, or sub-subconscious.
Have you been questioning your validity as a human being?(...Wondering what life is all about, and wondering what your role in life is?) Are you wondering if you are living life to the fullest, or are you wondering, 'Is this all there is'..? Are you wanting to 'make a difference'....to 'leave your mark upon the world'? Have you been feeling frustrated or annoyed by the people around you...possibly wanting a little solitude?
The paralysis you are 'experiencing' can be very frightening. Depending on the current situations in your life, there are a few different interpretations. The fear that paralyzes you in the dream may be a symbol of the fear that you are experiencing in daily life. You may feel somewhat unable to change a current situation which may show itself in your dream in a form of paralysis. Alternately, this dream may be cautioning you to stay still and do nothing for now in regard to a real-life situation that is on your mind and may be problematic for you. In the dream you may be "frozen with fear" and it is up to you decipher what that fear is and what it represents. Also, sometimes, we experience paralysis to keep us from acting out the dream, otherwise we may injure ourselves.
Hope this gives you some inight...good Luck!
