  I just read your post....and it immediately makes me wonder what it is of your past  that is affecting your life right now.
  The ringing phone could be someone tryin to connect from the other side and possibly trying to warn you ?......
 Maybe a warning to  stop repeating  the "past"....

Running away - represents a fear of facing a situation within your waking life. That you would rather run from it that face it.

Being chased - Any 'chase dream' can be extremely frightening. What it usually symbolizes is that you're running away from your problems. What that problem is depends on who, or what, is chasing you. It may be a problem at work, or it may be something about yourself that you know is destructive.

Grey - a rather depressing color; some believe it to be the color of the aura of a 'prison'. Some sources suggests it indicates a slow period in your life, or that you feel you are merely 'marking time'.

Stone - represents solidity, and firmness. Could represent your views on things....as though they were 'set in stone'.

Steps or stairs(running down) - Going up and down the stairs could mean several different things. It could represent changes in consciousness, movement from one inner plane to another, or a change in understanding. In a more material sense, it could represent a rise or fall in economic or social status and the general efforts that are required to accomplish life's small and large goals. Also, they may represent your efforts in achieving your goals, ambition and material gains. The dream may be telling you to take things one thing at a time. Or that you need to take a chance and take that first step toward your goals/dreams.
Climbing may represent an achievement of your ambitions and a movement in a positive direction.
Descending may symbolize your doubts or a period following hard work and achievement of a significant goal....suggesting the feeling of a 'down' period, a negative flow of ideas or actions, or a sense of failure(or the fear of it).

Phone ringing - a symbol with which we are expressing a need, or desire, to communicate with ourselves and with others. Your subconscious,  intuition, or even your friends and family, may be trying give you information, or advice, that you have been unwilling to listen to.

Statue - symbolizes a lack of communication with someone who the statue represents, and that the relationship may be inflexible. It may also represent someone you idealize and admire.

Dog - a symbol of trust and loyalty, unconditional love, and companionship.

Confused - may reflect your true confused state of mind and the nonsensical events of your dream. Dreams of confusion may signify that you feel you are being pulled in opposite directions or do not know which viewpoint is right.

Do you feel that you are stuck in the middle of a confusing situation?

Is there an issue you're facing, but would rather 'run away' from it, than to deal with it.. or face it head-on?
Are you wanting to change some aspect of your life, but it it seems too difficult, or that this area of your life is unmovable, or 'set in stone'?
