I have NEVER dreamt of vampires before, but here's a weird one I had; it bugs me!
My husband (who is French) and I were walking along, and I saw a sign that said "Draqu?." I asked him if that meant "Dracula," in French, and he said yes, of course. (BTW, I looked this up after waking up, this word doesn't exist in French!) There was an epidemic of vampires after that. It was scary. I remember being scared of being bitten by someone who, unknowingly, may be a vampire.
Then we (myself and lots of people) were underground, and I felt an urge to bite someone's neck. I jumped on some random guy, and I remember him yelling in fear. But I didn't have long teeth ...yet... so I didn't really do any damage, but I remember thinking, "Oh no, now that I've been bitten, I'm only bound to get worse until I actually became a full vampire."
Then the dream skipped, and I was above ground and no longer affected by the vampire sickness. (Whew!) I recall that the healthy humans had managed to contain the vampire community to an underground island, where they were going to set off an atomic bomb to get rid of them. But first they were rescuing all the animals from the island, putting them on a large platform, lifted by a crane out of the pit that led to the underground island. I watched as the animals were freed out of the pit. They all bounded past me to their various destinations. The last thing I saw, like the end of a Hitchcock movie, was a llama running by, looking at me fiendishly. I saw that he had two long teeth... very vampire-like... and I realized the epidemic would start again!
Then I woke up, scared. Not a good night!

I'm going to try to help you here with what few keywords I know, but I'm no genius, and would probably become a telepathic mindreader before I could truly understand dreams. Very sorry, in advance.
Two (as in the couple of yourself and your husband) means evening out, such as in female-male, night-day, et cetera. Becoming or being a vampire may mean you are sucking the energy out of your life or others for your own benefit. Maybe in your waking life you are being a tad selfish, but don't know of or notice it? On the other hand, an island may mean either you want some solitude, to break away from the stress; that your feel unconnected with others (perhaps your husband?), or, maybe, that you have reached a point in your life and don't know what to do. Llamas signify trust, strength, endurance, pushing yourself to the next level. (Which is quite funny, my llamas don't remind me of any of those things.) A llama can also mean that you are worrying about too many things or holding on to too many problems.
Maybe, you are subconsciously sucking things for yourself from family/friends, and they are drifting away slightly because of this - you feel unconnected and don't know why. The llama may be someone very close to you, who can help you through this struggle - but you must understand how to stop being vampiresq to come closer to this person - get through their own "fangs," which may be only a false.
Just an idea - you're so much better at this than me, you can certainly disregard everything I've said.

Thanks for your insight. Very glad to receive it. First of all, I'm sure everyone on this forum would be quick to say that they don't understand dreams, at least not all of them, all the time. Dreams are so personal, they are so diverse, and so mysterious, it's really impossible to be able to understand them fully. We just do our best with what we know, and try to learn something along the way!
You highlighted several things I hadn't thought of when trying to interpret this dream. I hadn't thought about associating the vampires with selfishness; I don't know why. I was thinking along the lines of bitterness, emotional death, or possibly a physical infection, but those things didn't seem to fit exactly. I'll chew on that and see if the selfish thing seems to work.
I have no idea why I would see a llama; the only llamas I've seen in real life were at zoos, and one time last year I saw someone walking their llama in a public park! Other than that, I'm very unfamiliar with these animals, and don't know what the dream is trying to get across. However, I can tell you that I definitely have too many problems going on right now; it's quite overwhelming. So maybe you're on to something there. Another idea: You'd have no way of knowing this, but when I think of the word "llama," the first thing that comes to my head is a silly little poem I memorized as a child: The One-L Lama, he's a priest. The Two-L Llama, he's a beast. And I'll bet you a silk pyjama, There isn't any Three-L Lllama. So maybe the dream is using a connotation to draw from this poem, which creates a dichotomy between the spiritual and the natural: "priest" and "beast." It could be trying to show me that this epidemic of vampirism is affecting my "natural" world.
I hadn't thought about the symbol of the island either, I was focusing on the idea of being underground, but forgot to notice the island. It is true that I often feel isolated. Thanks! Have a nice weekend.
