For me this dream seemed like a akward expression of self. You where constantly trying to avoid a situation around a total stranger by leaving him to sleep. You seemed unable to fully avoid confrontation with the man due to clumsyness and self doubt. You also has no clear destination in mind and seemed very determined to get there. If you had a lesser place to go to you might have turned around and not disturbed the lying man.

I think this man describes someone of wisdom in your life. someone of either power or commands respect because he is in your path directly . He could be a she in real life but the dream was portraying the man as someone who is in your way but is not dangerous to you, could even be beneficial to you. You do not want to wake him is your primary thought, you do not want to disturb him so it may be that you are too sincere to ask for help from those who may know the way. By dropping you main mode of communication by this man the dream may be telling you that communication with him is the main attribute wanted. But even though this is given to you , you stealthily grab the phone and leave without jarring him from his slumber.

When you cross the bridge you are on the hill overlooking the city in what seems the dark. This could represent that you where late because you did not ask the man for help or took to long passing him. Or you minded the sleeping too much *which could mean the dead* and wasted valuable time in your life.
