Greetings,

This is probably fairly common but I've been having some pretty intense dreams about a woman I used to have a huge crush on back in college about 15 years ago. In the dreams she is more receptive to me as a lover than she ever was in real life. There is no sexual activity in the dreams-just a kind of emotional attraction. We were pretty good frinds so I suspect its merely my unfullfilled "dreams", so to speak. I wake up pretty moved by the whole thing and the dreams are powerful enough to leave some emotional residue for that day.

Thanks!

There are several possible explanations for having dreams such as you are having about an ex-crush. Because the Lord uses dreams to point out errors in your thinking about situations or ideas you are dealing with, the first explanation could be that there is some error in how you may still be thinking about this particular woman. If you want to view these dreams of her as representing your unfulfilled ?dreams? or fantasies, we need to see exactly what the images are saying.

The ex-crush represents an emotional aspect of yourself and can relate to feelings you have about this woman. Thus your scenes seem to be saying that when using your feelings about this woman, you could feel that you are emotionally being very loving of yourself as she appears to be very receptive of you as a lover. With the feelings you have about this woman you are emphasizing the emotional bond with this woman as there is no sexual activity. The problem here may be that any continuing fantasies about this woman have effects that go beyond the dream state. The emotional residue of such fantasies is robbing you of your focus on the present life you trying to live (the dreams are powerful enough to leave some emotional residue for that day)and distracting you from perhaps taking notice of a woman with whom you might have a real relationship here and now.

As the ex-crush obviously represents a love interest, the dreams may also be pointing out some error in how you think about those women who you feel attracted to. The scene indicated no sexual activity but great love between the two of you. Are you perhaps rushing into a sexual relationship without taking the time to develop an emotional bond with a woman? Note how powerful and lasting an emotional bond can be. Do you perhaps have a poor attitude about your ability to establish an emotional bond with a woman? Reality where this particular woman is concerned would show you to be not quite as successful in establishing a bond. The dream can suggesting you view yourself as more successful.

Sometimes a person not seen in years, can be a stand in for someone who is in your life now but who you cannot see in the same terms as you see the dream person. You can see or imagine a powerful emotional bond with the ex-crush, but could there be another woman in your life with whom the same might be quite possible and you are ignoring her?

Hopefully this might give you some food for thought. Dreams are not simply here to review one?s fantasies. There is always something being said in them.
