I had the most weird realistic dream last night and I'm curious why I would dream this.  My dream showed a lot of details and felt so real and right, but it left me waking up a little confused.

I dreamt I was engaged to my current boyfriend.  We were already living together and he had to leave on a business trip.  When he asked me to marry him he gave me a very simple yet elegant engagement ring.  While he my current boyfriend was on his trip, my ex-boyfriend came to visit.  (In real life I am friends with my ex, and we still talk far and few between.  He checks to see how my daughter is doing.  We had lived together and dated for 6 years.  Then he told me he loved me but wasn't in love with me and didn't think he ever would so we broke up.  We've been broken up for 2 years now.)  In my dream my ex boyfriend told me he still loved me and asked me to marry him.  I immediately said yes, snuck off the other ring (because he didn't know about it) and put his on.  This new ring was a lot larger but still beautiful.  When he went into the other room I went into the closet to hid my current boyfriends clothes.  Then I came out and we kissed.  I was so happy and excited.  My dream was taking place in my old town (where my ex lives, not where I currently reside).  I knew in my dream (and in real life) that my ex has a new girlfriend (yet he would never admit it, even now, they are just "friends". He does know I am seeing someone.).  So as I was driving around with a friend and I told her see, he really wasn't into her and we are going to be together forever.  At that time I realized I was engaged to 2 people and had to call my current boyfriend to break up with him.  That's when I looked down and realized I lost my engagement ring from my current boyfriend.  I couldn't remember where I put it when I snuck it off my finger.  I started to search for it but couldn't find it and I started to panic.  Then I woke up.


I don't know where this dream came from.  I haven't talked to my ex boyfriend in weeks.  The last time I talked to him we discussed windows for my dads house (my ex is a builder).  I'm currently happy with my new boyfriend we've only been dating 4 months, and talking 8 months.  I know we are not ready to get engaged in any manner.  We haven't been able to see each other that much because he lives 60 miles from me and his granmother is dying. So his family has been in and they are staying with him.  He is recently divorced and I didn't think it would be right for me to be there with them.  I thought it might affect his kids.  He agreed.  I talk to him everyday and we talk before going to bed.  We just book a trip together with my daughter for late September.  This will be our 2nd trip together but our first with my daughter. 

So that is why I'm confused to why this dream came about, and why now? Can anyone help me out and tell me what this means?
