I dreamed there was a bird in the house in the hall on the carpet .....just sitting there ...it was so real that when I got out of bed ... I went to look for it to rescue  it before the dogs could get out of bed to chase it away.  Im not sure what type of bird it was .. perhaps a hollywoodfinch as I have the inpression it was brown with a bit of red on its head ...but was definately not a woodpecker ....

What you've said about your circumstances and your dream, it's telling me that you very much miss the life and freedom you had. That you may be feeling a bit depressed, or stressed out in your current situation.
Wanting to rescue the bird suggests that you feel you are in need of a bit of a rescue.
