A friend had this dream and asked me if I was able to interpret it for them, having gone to a few of my psych lectures on the topic. I couldn't help, can anyone here?

"I was about 3 or 4 in the first part, and we lived in a city, in a tall apartment building. I was an only child, living just with mum and dad (In real life, his brother would've been 2 or 3). I was friends with a blind girl who lived across the street, and we used to play, just kids games. We could shout out across the street to each other, we both lived on about the fourth floor. One day I went to call to her, and as I made it to the window, I saw she was standing at her window with her mother. Only it wasn't the window, it was a little ledge. And as I was watching, her mother pushed her. I saw her fall, and her collision with the ground was really vivid too. Normally my dreams fade to black just before something like that, but this time it didn't.
In the next part I was somewhere between 15 and 18, and I was in a group of 20 or thirty people, from what I could make out they were all guys. We were walking towards my home, I'm not sure if they were all coming there with me, or just in that general direction. To get home we had to cross the road and then go over a bridge. Rather than go down to the traffic lights, we just crossed the road where we were. But there were police guys who saw, and they started chasing us. I ran into Dad in the crowd, and said hi, then we both went round and under the bridge. There was an old guy sitting on a bench, and so we sat with him, hoping the police would think wed been there all along. But the police had a police dog (all the police were men), and they tracked us. Dad told me to hide under the chair, and then the police chased him into a building. I called out to them "Stop chasing him", in a tone that seemed both authoritative and yielding/submissive. They came back and said that there had been a little girl that got killed. I said "I know, I watched her plummet to the ground!!" Then the police got all suspicious, cos I already knew about it. Then the dream ended"

Anyone got any suggestions? He said he doesn't think he's got any latent guilt, or blind friends. He's never actually lived in an apartment. It all seemed kind of odd to him, and he's stressing out a bit about it.

Being young - suggests you wish to have things the way they were. Less responsibilities, and having someone (parents) watching over you.

City - usually symbolizes your relationship, or interaction with society. The many choices you can make about direction, relationships, activities, etc. Also represents your 'sense of community', and the mental, and emotional environment, in which you live.
Inner city - same as city, but instead of relating to the community, and society as a whole....inner city would relate more to your personal circle of friends and family.

Apartment - An apartment is a smaller version of a house, and still represents 'the self'. But being that it IS a smaller version, symbolizes your state of finances or the state of a situation in which you are involved.
Parents -

Blind girl:
Strangers - If the person reminds you of someone you know.. think about your relationship with him or her, and the issues that the dream has brought up, or how you relate to the person that is being represented. If these people are totally unrecognizable (they don't remind you of anyone you know)... they would represent different, and unknown, aspects of yourself. They are extensions and projections of your own subconscious, and personality. Alternately, a stranger may represent an unknown fear, or danger, you feel in your waking life.

Human beings (male and female alike), are curious, questioning, and have a need for information, and spiritual expansion. We all have masculine and feminine aspects (or sides) to our subconscious.
The masculine aspects would be the part of ourselves that we view as brave, strong, stubbornness, authoritative, logical...etc.
The feminine aspects would be the part of ourselves that we view as emotional, nurturing, tender, yielding, sensitive...etc.
When we dream, all the different parts of our 'inner selves' interact, and 'come alive', as though they were different people.

Blindness - suggests a lack of awareness or understanding within yourself. Turning a blind eye to something. May mean not knowing where you are going and/or a feeling of helplessness.

4th floor -
4 - a positive symbol. The four represents immense inner strength, energy, vitality and a great love for and connection with nature. Four analyses and organizes, the four is where the change in the human personality takes place, representing accomplishment, completion, and wholeness(the completely integrated human psyche).

Window:
Windows - represent your point of view, perspectives and glimpses of insight. Windows in our houses allow us to see the world on the out side, the windows in our dreams may encourage us to better see the world within ourselves, as well as the world outside.
Looking out the window suggests you are, or need to be, aware of the world around you.
An open window suggests that you are opening your eyes to a current situation in your waking life.

Ledge - suggests very precarious footing. That a situation you are currently dealing with requires some delicate footwork.

Mother pushed the girl off the ledge - Parents try to raise their children to become independent and strong individuals. Much like birds pushing their fledglings out of the nest, parents sometimes 'push' their children into difficult situations so that they can learn to become self-sufficient.

Falling/Fell - represents underlying fears and feelings of inadequacy and helplessness. Also, current difficulties, and situations in your life that seem to be on a downward spiral, especially those situations that seem outside of your control.

Being a teenager - Much like being a child. There is less responsibility, but more freedom.

Group of people - depicts how you meet the pressure of accepted social 'norms', and public opinions.
Walking towards home -

Bridge - There are many meanings that could be given to this symbol. The details in the dream are just as important as the bridge itself. The first consideration should be given to how much you travel. The bridge can be interpreted literally if it is a part of your daily commute.
On a more psychological level, bridges can symbolize transitions (e.g. transition from one stage to another, from one level of consciousness to another). Since most bridges are over water (i.e. emotions, unconscious), this dream could also be symbolic of your rising above your emotional difficulties or unconscious drives.
Under the bridge - suggests that you are not rising above your emotional difficulties or unconscious drives, or are reluctant to make a transition of some sort.

Being Chased - represent current tensions, or issues. This dream usually shows the level of stress you have at the moment, and is a signal to take control over the worries and resolve issues with a clear head. Alternately, you might be trying to avoid something. Identifying what, or who, the chaser represents might clarify what you're trying to avoid.

Police - symbolize authority, support, and protection. Your emotional response to them in the dream will provide you with good clues to interpreting this dream symbol accurately.
If the police are chasing you, or you feel fear and anxiety where the police are concerned, it suggests that you may be feeling some guilt about something that you may have said or done or have been thinking of doing or saying. The police could be addressing 'Karmic Law' as well as the laws in our physical world. If you are feeling that you can't meet all of your obligations, and fear repercussions due to an unmet commitment in your waking life, the police may be an unwelcome sight.

Running Away - suggests something, or someone, in your life is difficult to face, and that you would rather run away from it than face it.
Trying to catch up to others suggests you fear being left alone to face a situation on your own. That there is 'safety in numbers'.

Father - Your father or a father figure represents your need for safety and security. Speaking to your father denotes your suppressed desire to be guided and supported.
Dreams with fathers in them can be looked at on several different levels. You may be dreaming about your father and expressing your feelings about him in a safe way. Traditionally, a father dream can be seen as symbolizing authority and power. In the dream you may be expressing your attitude about strengths and weaknesses as they relate to your position in life and your general attitude toward society.

Old man - the Elderly usually the elderly represent wisdom, patience, guidance, and experience.  They serve as life lessons....to learn from their achievements, as well as their mistakes.

Police captured you -  suggests you should watch for a tendency to be your own worst enemy.

Rescue - In dreams of rescuing, you are either doing the rescuing or are in need of being rescued.
If you are doing the rescuing, you likely see yourself as a leader, shepherd, parent, or role model to others. Who, or what you rescue, what you rescue them, or it from, and how you did it, often reveals how you see yourself within a particular network of relationships.

If you are the one being rescued, it is likely that you are overwhelmed or feeling incompetent in an important area of your waking life. You may be feeling that the consequences of failure could be catastrophic. If your rescuer is someone known to you in waking life, it may be worth seeking his or her advice concerning particular struggles you are facing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Is there something you don't want to face or admit to?
Are you having difficulty with authority figures...boss, teacher, parents, etc.?
Are you always going along with the group mentality?
Are you afraid to get out on your own?
Are you in a delicate situation....something that requires tact, or something that you need help or guidance with?
Hope I could help, good luck!
